If you are considering making life-changing decisions about the appearance of your smile, you owe it to yourself to consider several factors. Before you randomly select a dentist out of the phone book, think again. Great cosmetic dentistry is truly an art form, and you will want to be sure the cosmetic dentist you select has the talent and experience to provide the results you are expecting.
Many of our clients have discovered that selecting a cosmetic dentist based on fees alone can be a disappointing venture. Some other aspects to consider in selecting the right dental practice for your smile design include the following:
Technique. One thing that sets us apart from some other practices is the hands-on artistic design process we use. When we begin your smile enhancement, the cosmetic dentist (artist) will hand-sculpt prototypes on your teeth so that you can preview and “test drive” the new design prior to us handing it off to our highly skilled porcelain designers. With this blueprint in temporary materials, there is no need to wonder what the final result will look like!
Experience. If you are going to trust someone with designing your smile, you want to know that they have completed many cases like yours and have been successful with a variety of situations and challenges. We have helped countless people find the smile of their dreams.
Photography. A serious cosmetic dentist will photograph every case in order to evaluate and scrutinize the final results effectively. We will welcome the opportunity to share photos of our completed smile designs to give you a real sense of what is possible for your smile. We have included several before and after cosmetic dentistry pictures in our online gallery
Continuing Education. The field of cosmetic dentistry has been evolved dramatically over the past 25 years. Because these types of procedures are not typically taught in dental school, it is important that your cosmetic dentist and their team members participate in learning the latest information. Not only does our team attend numerous educational events every year, but due to his expertise and knowledge, Dr. Wells also lectures worldwide on innovative approaches to cosmetic dentistry.
American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Since the ADA (American Dental Association) does not recognize cosmetic dentistry as a specialty, it is hard for a consumer to know how much experience or expertise a dentist has in the arena of cosmetic smile design. One thing to consider is their level of affiliation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), a worldwide organization dedicated to the education and advancement of cosmetic dentistry. Accreditation with the AACD makes a strong statement, since only about 300 dentists worldwide have achieved this status. Dr. Wells has been an accredited member since 1994, and serves on the review board as an examiner for other dentists seeking their accreditation.
Of course, you should meet the cosmetic dentist you are considering using. We are happy to set up a time for you to come to the Nashville Center for Aesthetic Dentistry in Brentwood, Tennessee and talk with Dr. Wells. Simply give us a call or fill out the form on the right of this page.
